USRA President’s Report – July 2002

North Coast Challenge 2002

With only two weeks remaining before the Ohio race, preparations are in the final stages and this year’s race appears to be one of the best ever.  Pre-race entries are already double what they were last year so participation levels are sure to be great.  The steak and corn-on-the-cob cookout is ready to go too, so there’s not much left to say but “see you there”! Tony Husak, Chris Justus, and Tom Keating have been working hard with their local R/C club to put together a great event for us.  More race information is at our website www.usrainfo.org and we plan on putting up daily updates on the site for those of you who can’t make it.

Golden State Unlimited 2002

Plans and preparations for the final race of the year are nearly complete.  Archie and his crew always do a great job putting together a race, and this year is shaping up to be another fantastic event.  The Saturday night BBQ is on the agenda again as well as the 6.0 ci Warbird class.  We will also be handing out the USRA World Championship Series awards for each class at this event.   The deadline for the discount on entry fees for the Golden State Unlimited is September 1st, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to save a few bucks.  Race information is up on the website at www.usrainfo.org .

Airtronics Joins the USRA as Championship Series Sponsor

I would like to announce the addition of Airtronics to our growing group of USRA World Championship sponsors.  Ron Koberg and the good folks at Airtronics have been longtime supporters of Giant Scale Racing and the USRA.  Many of our competitors have been using the world-class radio products produced by Airtronics  for quite some time.  Our form of racing is very demanding on radio equipment and Airtronics has certainly met this challenge. The company’s digital servo has become very popular with our racers, and their new heat sink servo case will surely be a hit with Giant Scale Racers too.  Welcome and thank you to Airtronics.

USRA World Championship Series Awards

We are currently in the process of putting together the awards package for our Champions in each racing class and it’s looking very good.  The USRA Board of Directors voted at the annual meeting to allocate a separate sanction fee dedicated to awards for our Class Champions.  This money along with the contributions of our series sponsors has allowed us to put together a nice awards package that includes: A USRA World Championship Series Trophy; A USRA World Championship Series Ring; and a cash prize to each class champion. We still have a few irons in the fire to possibly sweeten this deal some more, but this is a great start and hopefully it will encourage you to go for that championship.  Thanks go out to all of our series sponsors Airtronics, APC, AeroSport, and Performance Plus Fuels for their help.  Their links are up on our website, so please show them your appreciation for their support to the USRA and recommend and use their products whenever possible.

Thanks Loren !

Just in case I didn’t thank him enough in the last newsletter, I’m gonna do it some more here!  Loren Tregellas did a great job putting together the Kansas race, and is all ready to do it again around the same time next year!  Loren also did most of the work regarding the incorporation of the USRA, so he has been very busy the last few months.  When  you see him, say thanks and give him a slap on the back. (But not too hard !)

USRA Press Releases.

If you have some local sponsors for your racing effort and would like some help getting them some exposure, then a USRA press release might just be the ticket.  The USRA can issue a press release to your local paper mentioning your sponsor and how well you did at the last race.  If you’d like to participate or learn more about this program then send me an email and we’ll get you started.

That’s about it for this month, looking forward to seeing everyone in Ohio.
