New Year

Welcome to a new exciting year. 2014 was a good year for the USRA. The sportsman class that we started is a big hit! I see this class growing in leaps and bounds. The Rabbit Speed Dash was a big hit sponsored by APC! We will have it again in 2015. Top speed was 258MPH. Tom Easterday provided the radar equipment with the big timing board so everyone could see in reaI time as each aircraft made its pass. It was exciting. I want to thank all of the officers that stayed together for the last year. A special thanks to Kelley Hartranft for all of her hard and time consuming work she does to keep us going. A special thanks to Tony Husack, Joann Justus, Dennis Fuchs and my wife Kevin Powell for registration and running the races. I want to thank all of our sponsors: Horizon Hobbies, Desert Aircraft, Futaba, APC, Ritch’s Brew, Waymire Decals, Aviation Field Service, Inc., CRT and BCC. Without these people, we would not have the USRA.

This is officer election year. It has been a pleasure being a board member going on my sixth year, but it is time for me to pass the torch on. I will continue to help the USRA in running the Rabbit Race. A mass email will be sent out later in the year to remind everyone to send your votes into me @ poweljk@aircanopy.net or if you know someone that would like to run for any of the positions you can also please put on the USRA forum. I also will keep it updated on the USRA Facebook page. If you haven’t checked out the USRA Facebook page please do so. It has a lot of stuff on it. Also, post your projects on the USRA Facebook page!
